Freiburg is a small and medieval city with 200 000 inhabitants laying in the river Rhine valley. It is surrounded by the black forest in the east and the “Kaiserstuhl”, an old and beautiful landscape and the Rhine in the west. The city and the surroundings are worth a visit.
It is not dangerous to go by foot, bike, tram, bus or car.

By foot
The distance from the festival space to the city center by foot is about 40 min. The park around the festival and the city center are wonderful to wander around.

By bike
It is 15 min. to the city center by bike, about 10 min. to the central station. Freiburg is a bike city. It`s the easiest way to go along with.

Next to the central station in Freiburg you can rent a bike. It’s called "mobilé" and it is in the round building. As a member of the contactfestival freiburg you will get a reduced price (10% off). You need to show them a letter with the logo of us.
One bike will be about 5 EUR/day, the 1st day is 15 Euro and there is a deposit of 50 Euro (you will get it back, when you bring the bike back!)
If you are sure, that you want to rent a bike you should order it before.

By public transportations
The public transportations are very connected and are running till midnight. Look at the map of the streetcar etc.

By car
The distance to the city center is 10 min by car, but you need to find a parking place and need to pay. The parking at the festival venue is for free. A car might be helpful to make trips to the more beautiful lakes outside the city, the thermal bath, which is little outside in a forest, the “Kaiserstuhl”, 30 min by car, or the Black Forest, which is starting some minutes behind the city.
The public transportations and regional trains (www.bahn.de) help you as well to find these places.
